Tours

Guided tours of 3/4 to 1 hour are offered with group bookings and are included
in the entry cost of $3.50 per person.. Tours outside these hours are available
by arrangement. All tours need to be pre-booked. Special interest tours can
be arranged, subject to the availability of suitable guides.

School workshops

Primary and secondary students visit Karwarra to learn about
plant/animal assocations, caring for natural and wild landscapes.
Lesson series can be arranged with conservation and environmental
education groups.

Tertiary practicals

Staff at participating institutions are invited to arrange excursions to Karwarra
for their students to study onsite aspects of horticulture, landscaping,
plant identification or environmental resources.

Work Experience placements

Pre-employment programs and retraining programs can include Karwarra
Garden as a sample of the horticultural opportunities in the work place.
A limited number of practical employment placements are available.

Guest lectures

A program of lectures/workshops is arranged from time to time and
advertised in the local press.
We are always delighted to receive suggestions about interesting

Karwarra's Educational Resources

Karwarra Australian Plant Garden is an excellent venue for educational programs and experiences for all people at all levels. During your tour you will notice the amazing diversity of Australian plants. A natural balance encourages more than 40 species of birds to visit, feed on the nectar, insects and fruit or nest within the garden. add to the atmosphere.

Themes which can be covered at Karwarra relate to all aspects of nature and the environment with special emphasis on Australian flora and fauna, plant communities, gardening and horticulture.

Educational brochures cover a range of topics.

Facilities include:

  • a warm and well-appointed hall for gatherings up to about 60 people;
  • adjoining annexes for more practical activities;
  • disabled-access paths and toilets;
  • a well-fitted kitchen;
  • sufficient chairs and tables;
  • educational aids;
  • ample parking space and coach turning.
